Scott Truett describes BikeRX as a way to help bicyclists at campgrounds in Episode 327

If you’ve ever had a flat tire or squeaky brakes on your bicycle while camping, you know just how frustrating it can be to find a reliable bike shop nearby. Today, I am speaking with a business owner who has an ideal opportunity for Workampers to make good money by fixing bikes at campgrounds.

Scott Truett is the founder of BikeRX. It is a mobile bicycle repair business designed for RVers, by an RVer.

In this episode, Scott describes how BikeRX combines his lifelong passion for cycling with a flexible, location-independent business.

Whether you’re an experienced mechanic or someone just looking for a way to make extra income while traveling, Scott’s business model might just be the perfect ride for you.

His journey from salvaging bikes at the dump to founding BikeRX is a testament to the idea that simple skills, when paired with passion and a smart business model, can open doors to a lifestyle many Workampers dream about.

What makes BikeRX so appealing is its simplicity and flexibility. With a one-time license fee — currently $3,500 — new licensees receive everything they need to start their own mobile bicycle repair business.

That includes a professional tool kit, a repair stand, starter inventory of the most-needed parts, marketing materials and even branded items, like water bottles and bicycle bells, to sell or give away.

There are no ongoing franchise fees or royalty percentages that are paid to the company. BikeRX is just a turnkey setup and a supportive framework to get rolling fast.

Training is comprehensive and entirely online. Through 47 instructional videos and a 350-page catalog of RV parts, new licensees can learn the ins and outs of basic bicycle maintenance, from adjusting derailleurs and tuning brakes to fixing flats.

The program is designed so that even someone with no prior repair experience can be up and running within 30 to 35 hours of guided practice.

But what really sets BikeRX apart is how well it fits the Workamper lifestyle. Scott encourages licensees to operate right from their campsites.

With an estimated average of one bike per campsite and 300 campsites per RV park, the market is already built in. And since campers are constantly coming and going, there’s a steady stream of potential customers.

By working just 10 to 15 hours a week, Workampers can generate $1,000 to $1,500 in income. That’s $50 to $100 an hour, all while setting your own schedule and staying in places you love.

Each BikeRX licensee is an independent business owner. You choose your business name, pricing, payment methods and schedule. You’re not tied to a territory, so you can take your business wherever your RV leads.
